Eat your insects

Bugs. They fly around your home, they pollinate your flowers, and they infest the shrubs in your backyard. To some, bugs are fascinating, to others, they’re a nuisance. Either way, one thing is clear; bugs are abundant and they often thrive whether we want them to or not, so why aren’t we using this to our advantage? Most of us in the West would turn our nose up at the thought of eating a bug, but cultures across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Oceania have incorporated insects into their diets for centuries. Bugs are an excellent source of protein and are very sustainable to cultivate. The meat industry makes up almost 20% of the greenhouse gas emission globally. As the sea levels are rising and the climate is changing, we should be looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint wherever we can. To bring attention to this concept, I created the packaging for insect inspired snack brands and a vintage advertisement poster. If you're interested in expanding your diet as part of this positive change, it's time to eat your insects!
