Bitmap Monogram

How can type be made illustrative and interesting? How far can legibility be pushed in order to create engaging letter forms? The Bitmap Monogram is an exploration of typefaces as a system. Here, I play with positive and negative space within a single letter form. Each letter is represented by positive space below the x-height and negative space above the x-height. The letterforms may not be immediately legible, so one must sit with them to explore their meaning.
